A small pentagon for a neighbour, a giant leap for a community
Jardin essentiel is a collaboration with the inhabitants and urban gardeners that are growing vegetables and fruits in the community garden of Carre Tillens. The project consists of a temporary space of exchange and projection, developed in dialogue with Centre Public d’Action Sociale d’Uccle, to give local inhabitants an occasion upon which to express their needs and wishes and develop activities during the summer.
During the workshop process, we recycled the wood from city benches to give them a second life. An urban infrastructure with the form of a pentagon was made as a starting point to grow substructures attached to the sides with different functions according to the needs of the neighbours.
This project was possible thanks to Bruxelles Environnement–IBGE, who provided the used materials for us, and the team of CPAS Uccle, who always showed a big motivation and aim for collaboration.
